Clara Lemke, Research Associate at the Bridge Professorship Gender and Diversity in Engineering, was a participant of the network meeting of the „Engagierten Stadt“ 2023. The event took place at the Federal Garden Show in Mannheim and brought together more than 110 representatives of Engaged Cities as well as guests from politics and business to promote sustainable networks and innovative solutions.

The network meeting offered participants a variety of presentations, workshops and thematic islands on various relevant topics such as future viability, climate protection, communication and sustainability. The Federal Garden Show in Mannheim, considered the most sustainable event of its kind to date, proved to be a special and thematically relevant venue for the meeting.

The two-day network meeting offered participants the opportunity to network with other committed cities, strengthen connections, celebrate achievements to date and look to the future. There were exciting speakers and engaged guests who worked together to further develop what has been achieved so far.

Since 2015, the network program "Engagierte Stadt" has been promoting the development of lasting engagement landscapes in selected cities and communities in Germany. The exchange of tried-and-tested practical solutions and the diversity of local concepts demonstrably improve the conditions for local civic engagement and participation. The program is supported by a consortium at the federal level, which includes various organizations such as the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, the Bertelsmann Foundation, the Breuninger Foundation and others.
